Join us for our last event of the year on October 4th!

Feeling disconnected? Overstimulated? Longing for something real?

Join us for a soul-refreshing mini urban retreat—right in the heart of the city of Los Angeles.

Each month, we gather outdoors to move, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters: nature, your body, and community.

rest is rebellion

“Hiking through the trails and flowing through yoga afterward helped me reconnect with my body and spirit in a way that felt grounding and powerful.” - Jhae

As seen in the Los Angeles Times

Why is Hike to Yoga more important than ever?

Because when we remember how to breathe, we remember how to listen.

When we learn to tend to ourselves,
we begin to tend to each other.

And when we walk in nature as kin,
we stop seeing Earth—or each other—as something to conquer.

This is not just a “monthly mini urban retreat.” This is a return.

To truth.
To tenderness.
To the power of presence.

Why It Matters

  • Feel calmer, lighter, and more connected after just one morning

  • Make new friendships rooted in presence, not performance

  • Get your body moving and your spirit grounded

  • Learn how nature can become your most powerful self-care ritual

You deserve to rest, reset, and return to yourself.

Our Mission Since 2019:

Hike to Yoga is a nonprofit community initiative making mindful movement, nature connection, and holistic wellness accessible to all. We bring together diverse groups for guided hikes, yoga in nature, and heart-centered connection—creating spaces of healing, belonging, and embodied joy in the outdoors.

What to Expect

Our monthly mini retreat is more than a hike—it’s a healing rhythm.

🌄 9 AM – Mindful Hike
We walk slowly, with intention—letting the Earth reset our nervous systems.

🧘‍♀️ 10 AM – Yoga Wave
We flow together like birds in flight: synchronizing breath, movement, and presence.

💬 11 AM – Community Circle + Picnic
Bring your own lunch, share stories, and be seen. This is a space for real talk, soft landings, and deep belonging.

I was glad i came to Hike to Yoga. I found it to be beneficial and much-needed break. It provided a sense of healing and helped me refocus. I  appreciated the opening circle. It created a welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to connect with others during the hike. The hike itself was relaxing, and I enjoyed the brief conversations I had with some of the other attendees. Regarding the yoga practice, I liked that your instructions were easy to understand and that there was no pressure to perform at a certain level. I also found our discussion to be insightful, as it's always valuable to hear different perspectives. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience.

After spending 25 years in prison the world outside felt challenging and unfamiliar.  It wasn’t until I found API RISE I felt a sense of acceptance and belonging. I was invited to attend Hike to Yoga with API RISE. Not knowing what to expect on the hike and yoga I felt anxious. When I met Laurie in the beginning I immediately felt compassion which created a safe space where I felt accepted, understood and empowered.  Just by her demeanor was very calming. Through this experience I now have a greater appreciation for the power of compassion, community and  self-acceptance. I am thankful for the support and growth that I experienced in just one day of hiking and yoga.  I found it to be a day of self-care with a community of support.  With me doing yoga for the first time you encouraged and helped everyone and made it fun and relaxing. Thank you for creating such a safe space for me.

With the current government that we have, i would say that It's not easy to mingle with people in different races. There maybe hesitations, uncomfortable feeling that some of them might give wrong judgement about you, things like these are inevitable. However, what happened was totally the opposite haha! You are an amazing Leader. You made us feel very comfortable with each other from the beginning until the end. All of you are all "filter free" and i told myself "I belong here". Discovering each and everyone's experience especially those who were locked up made me realise that people like them deserved second chances. They are more genuine, disciplined and kind compared to other people I met. My heart is crying after hearing their stories and yet I'm very proud of them too, for making each day a brand new day. I look forward to more hiking, trekking, yoga and other fun activities with you guys. The nature speaks for happiness and peace. I feel safe with you all. Meanwhile, burning our legs while having fun...this makes the perfect Yoga Wave haha! Our focus discussion about Being Asian in 2025 is substantial and gave me more self confidence and self esteem not forgetting our culture as Asians, but rediscovering other race's culture too and embrace them with all our heart. No to Racism! And focus on what else we can do to make our dreams come true. Together, We Rise up high!

A Word From The Founder

I do not seek peace as a distant dream.
I live it. I guide it. I plant it—in bodies, in breath, in land, and in lineage.

I believe peace begins not with treaties, but with nervous systems.

It begins with the eldest daughter who finally says, “I am allowed to rest."

It begins with the refugee child—now grown—who hikes into the hills and remembers, "My ancestors survived. And so will I."

It begins with the woman who rolls out her mat and whispers,
"This body is no longer a battleground."

I do not perform self-care to escape the world.
I practice it to transform the world.
